Module 1 · Design & Content Essentials
Social Media Content with AI
Plan a month of posts, write captions in your own brand voice and turn one idea into content for several platforms, with AI doing the heavy lifting.
About 25 minutes
Decide what you post about
Posting randomly is exhausting and rarely works. Choose three content themes (sometimes called content pillars) that your audience cares about. For a small hair salon in Abuja they might be:
- Show the work: before-and-after photos, new styles.
- Help the customer: hair-care tips, what to ask for.
- Build trust: reviews, the team, behind the scenes.
Almost every post you make should fit one of the three. If you're stuck, ask AI:
I run a small hair salon in Abuja. My customers are mostly working
women aged 25–40. Suggest three content themes for Instagram and
explain in one line why each would interest them.Plan a month in minutes
Ask AI to build a simple calendar you can edit:
Create a 4-week Instagram content calendar for my salon, 3 posts a
week, using these themes: show the work, hair-care tips, build trust.
Put it in a table with: week, day, theme, post idea, format
(photo, carousel or reel). Then make it realistic. Remove ideas you can't film or photograph, add real dates like public holidays or your promotions, and put it where you'll see it: a spreadsheet, a notebook or your phone calendar.
Write captions in your voice
AI captions often sound generic. Fix that by describing your brand voice and giving an example of a caption you like:
Our voice is warm, confident and a little playful, with short
sentences and no slang. Here's a caption we liked:
"Braids that last. Edges that stay happy. Book your Saturday slot now."
Write 3 caption options for a before-and-after photo of knotless braids,
with a clear call to action and 3–5 relevant hashtags.A good caption usually has:
- A hook in the first line, because that's all people see before "more".
- One idea, not five.
- A call to action: book, reply, save, share, visit.
Read every caption before posting. Change anything that doesn't sound like you, and never post prices, promises or claims you haven't checked.
Turn one idea into many posts
One good idea can feed several platforms. Ask AI to adapt it:
Take this tip: "Sleep with a satin scarf to keep braids neat longer."
Turn it into: an Instagram caption, a 20-second reel script with what
to show in each shot, a short WhatsApp status, and a LinkedIn-style
post about running a salon business. Each platform has its own style. Reels need a strong first two seconds, WhatsApp status should be short, and LinkedIn is more professional.
Try it
- Write down your three content themes (use AI if you need ideas).
- Ask AI for a two-week calendar, then delete or change at least two ideas to make it realistic.
- Pick one post and ask for three caption options in your voice. Choose one and edit it.
- Ask AI to turn that post into a WhatsApp status and a short reel script.
