Ask for explanations, not answers

The biggest study win is getting a topic explained in the way that works for you. Tell the assistant your level and what confuses you:

I'm a 100-level student in Economics. I don't understand elasticity of
demand. Explain it in simple English with an example using fuel prices,
then check my understanding with two questions. Wait for my answers
before telling me if I'm right.

That last line matters. It makes the AI quiz you instead of just talking at you, and being tested is one of the most reliable ways to remember.

Some assistants have a study or learning mode that asks you questions and guides you step by step instead of giving the answer straight away. Try it if yours has one.

Test yourself

Reading notes again feels productive, but testing yourself works much better. Ask for practice:

Give me 10 short-answer questions on the causes of the First World War,
from easy to hard. Don't show the answers until I ask.

Other useful formats:

• Multiple choice with explanations for each wrong option.
• "Explain it back": "I'll explain photosynthesis in my own words. Tell me what I got wrong or missed."
• Past-question style: paste a past question (not a live exam!) and ask for a similar one to practise.

Turn your notes into study tools

Paste your own lecture notes (typed, or a photo the assistant can read) and ask:

• "Summarise these notes in 10 bullet points."
• "Make 15 flashcards from these notes: question on one side, answer on the other."
• "Which parts of these notes are most likely to be examined? Why?" (Treat this as a guess, not a promise.)

Working from your own notes keeps the AI close to what your lecturer actually taught.

Plan your revision

I have exams in 3 weeks: MTH101 (hardest for me), CHM101, PHY101 and
GST111. I can study 3 hours on weekdays and 5 hours on Saturdays.
Make a revision timetable with breaks, more time for MTH101, and a
full practice day before each exam.

Then adjust it to real life. A plan you follow beats a perfect plan you don't.

2. Ask the AI to explain it at your level and then quiz you with three questions, waiting for your answers.
3. Answer them honestly, without looking.
4. Paste in a page of your notes and ask for 10 flashcards.
